Joanne Childs | Trustee

Having graduated from the University of Leeds, Joanne began her professional career as an Application Developer in the private sector, before joining the Civil Service, specialising in project management and systems engineering.

 

Joanne started her musical journey on violin and piano, before progressing to cornet. She is a former principal of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, where she met her husband. She also led the City of Hull Band as principal cornet for several years.

 

Upon returning to her homeland of Wales, Joanne switched to flugel horn, playing with the Tredegar Town Band, before joining the World No. 1 ranked Cory Band, with whom she won a World Championship, four European Championships, four British Open Championships and nine Welsh Championships.

 

As a soloist Joanne appeared with the National Youth Brass Bands of Wales and Switzerland, and featured on many CD recordings. Joanne remains passionate about music and enjoys supporting her young family in their musical and sporting pursuits.
