LFL5_edited.jpg

Lisa Fitzgerald-Lombard grew up in Yorkshire, before re-locating to Wales following university. Music has always played an integral part of Lisa’s life, as both she and her younger brother David, followed in their parents’ footsteps learning piano and brass. Lisa enjoyed being a member of both the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, as well as the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain where in 1995 she met her husband, Oliver.

Lisa graduated from the University of Birmingham with BMus hons in 2000, completed a master’s degree in performance at the Royal Academy of Music in 2002 and went on to gain her PGCE a few years later. Lisa began her career in education as an instrumental teacher for Gwent Music before accepting a post as a classroom teacher at Hawthorn High School in 2006. Now the Head of Music and Leader of the Initial Teacher Education pathway, Lisa is still very much enjoying the challenges of working within the education sector.

In her spare time Lisa has been fortunate to enjoy playing cornet at a top level with bands such as Black Dyke and Cory, travelling the world and winning a World Championship, 4 British Open and 4 European titles, most of which were achieved under the musical guidance of her father Dr Robert Childs. Lisa left banding in 2013, but continues to keep herself busy as a proud mother of two, Matthew and Hannah, as well as being a featured writer for Brass Band World Magazine and a Trustee of both the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and Euphonium Foundation UK.
